When You Care To Send The Very Best.
Who is this officer known as LT Irving H. Glick? Good looking, intelligent, enigmatic are words that come to mind. But he is also humorous, cunning and inspirational to those that have known him. Throughout the years, Irv has had the opportunity to leave his mark on many junior officers and in many ways they are him. Incidentally, the “H” stands for Hallmark.
Irv spent his formative years in Patrol Squadron TWENTY-ONE, a squadron that brought with it a long and distinguished history. As a member of the “Blackjacks”, Irv learned his craft and qualified as a Patrol Plane Commander. It has been said that when the Commander, Fleet Air Wing THREE signed his PPC designation he penned it with the remarks, “With kindest personal regards” which apparently was the only time the Commodore ever did such a thing. Irv remained a “Blackjack” for many years, longer than any other officer. Suffering a few ups and downs professionally, Irv established a reputation that was known throughout Naval Air Station Brunswick, Maine as well as many a “Five Aces” Board at various Officers’ Clubs all over the world.
Upon the sad day of Patrol Squadron TWENTY-ONE’s disestablishment LT Glick was transferred to Patrol Squadron TEN, a sister outfit at NAS Brunswick. Though part of a new wardroom, Irv quickly fit in as a “Red Lancer” garnering the same reputation among his fellow officers that he had done in his previous command. Here his service and exploits continue as does the occasional postcard from Irv on his many trips all over the world.
